'Under the Terrace, Brantome'
Dordogne in the south-west of France was a favourite for Sir William Russell Flint.
This charming town which remains very much as Russell Flint originally painted it many years ago, and is a delight to many of its visitors today.
The painting is easily recognizeable when walking through the town. It's small winding alleys are lined with patisseries, cafes, and boulangeries.
Originally built by the monks as a retreat, and encompassed by the River Dronne, it has become known as the 'little Venice'.
On a warm summer's day, Brantome attracts many tourists, canoeing along the river, fishing, or simply taking a stroll through the streets.
10 minutes west is the beautiful town of Bourdeilles.
