The Koi Pool is a most charming example of Russell Flint's painting at his finest.
The exact location is unknown, but it does resemble several small villages around Brantome in the Dordogne.
The model as usual is Cecilia Green, who was probably added to the work back at his studio in Peel Street, Campden, London.
Koi or more specifically nishikigoi, are colored varieties of the Amur carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens.
Koi is an informal name for the colored variants of C. rubrofuscus kept for ornamental purposes.
