The construction of this particular one in the study is from 1284 by Edward I of England, Duke of Acquitaine. During this era a large portion of the west of France was also undur the English crown.

The architecture of these buildings were largely similar with timber built frames and a market area (usually shaded) perfect locations for many painters. Russell Flint was no exception.
