An early work by Sir William Russell Flint, judging from the clothing worn at that time.
It appears to be painted on the north east coast, possibly Bamburgh, where he spent so much time.
The beautiful subtlelty and minimalistic use of colour gives the impression of wonderful shimmering wet sands.
